On the Edge of a Black Hole....

Scientists say that matter, well doesn't matter, and time, well has no time on the edge of a black hole. If you can find that specific location, probably the size of pin head, on the edge of a black hole where you are being pushed away and pulled in at the same velocity; well time would become irrelevant and you would be in a different time spectrum than everything else in the Universe.

I have found my edge of the black hole, it's sitting on hold, or watching files download and install with a support technician. Don't get me wrong, the technicians are great...takes sometime to get past the broken english and the heavy Indian accent (dotter not scalper). I've been in my office, in my chair (with the occasional poop break or drink run) for going on 7.5 hours working on an Exchange issue.

What have I learned today while sitting on the edge of time and space:

1. You had better get used to usign Speaker Phone with these issues, holding the phone to your head for that long will cause arm cramps and believe it or not your ear to fall asleep (weird feeling when that happens).

2. You better use the bathroom when the technician says he's stepping away to the wash room, cause once he gets back on and gets committed to something it's leg crossing and searching for an empty bottle.

3. Don't drink too much, pace yourself...though you will have empty bottles for Item #2

4. Your gonna miss your family like hell. Make sure your battery is full on your phone, you can reveiw pictures and even get great videos sent to you of them playing. Makes things a bit more bearable.

5. Find something constructive to do while you are watching status bars.

5a.Work on another PC's issue (make sure it's in the same room, no reason having to run
back and forth down the hall).
5b. Catch up on some reading or update some notes
5c. Build a replica of the NCC-1701 out of paperclips and rubber bands (not sure if that's
possible, if it is and you've done it send me a pic.)
5d. Write on your blog. :)

Well I best sign off for now, I may disrupt my pin head and slide into the Black Hole. If ya'll don't see me for a while look to the stars, I may be fighting my way out of Black Hole.

Moving again????

As many of you probably know by now Lisa, the boys and I are moving again. Yes, that's right only here at the new place for a few months and we're getting ready to uproot and move again. An opportunity has come up in the public sector that I can't resist and it is going to require that we move. The move for now is temporary to permanent and depends on the final position that I end up in over the long term. We've tried to keep this quiet as best we could while things got worked out but many of you have gotten wind to it and now it's time to let the rest of you know.

The new job is first going to start out in Nova Scotia. Wow, a foreign job you say....we'll that's what has had us on the fence for so long, are the kids old enough to transistion well in a foreign country, can we adjust good in a foreign country? Those questions were hard to answer at first. Speaking of questions, here's one that is a lot easier to answer. Have you been April Fooled? Well of course you have.

Sincerely,

Todd McElmurry
